Dock & Door Technician

This is a full-time position

 

The Dock & Door Technician will be responsible to perform on-site inspection, repairs, removals, and installation of customer’s dock levelers, locks, doors and various other equipment at their location. Will assist in customer proposal creation and presentation, as well as enter the necessary information on work orders and work order summary. This opportunity represents a well-known Material Handling Company and requires professionalism, great attitude, good communication skills and world class customer service.

 

Primary Responsibilities Technician Dock & Door

  • Coordinate daily schedule with dispatch

  • Provide world class customer service at the site

  • Inspect the levelers, locks and doors

  • Notate and propose additional services required after inspection

  • Make the required repairs and or installs

  • Work with sales team- forward leads and prepare/close proposals

  • Repair all work order requests

  • Quality control of each job to ensure completeness and up to safety standards

  • Work independently as well as in a team

  • Communicate with customer and contractor status of project

  • Complete and submit all work orders and time on a daily basis per company guidelines.

  • Clean the area after work is completed

  • Inspect company vehicle and initiate necessary scheduled maintenance per service manual guidelines

  • Drive in a safe and courteous manner. Every day is a major responsibility to insure the employees’ safety as well as others on the road.

  • All other duties or special projects as assigned

 

   Physical Job Demands: Technician Dock & Door

  • Must be able to lift 100lbs., stoop, squatting, pulling or working in awkward positions.

Job Description

This position will be responsible for the day to day implementation and continuous improvement of Health & Safety programs, and maintaining all State and Federal environmental programs and report requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines and procedures. Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs.

  • Team player able to build and maintain relationships, communicate and function well within his/her peer group. Must have excellent communication skills throughout all levels of the organization.

  • Actively coaches’ peers, salaried and hourly employees on expected and acceptable safety behaviors and activities on the shop floor to improve and attain a goal of zero incidents.

  • Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that EH&S policies and procedures are implemented and working as intended.

  • Anticipates, identifies, evaluates and works to implement solutions to hazardous conditions and practices.

  • Responsible for investigations of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness. Focal point for Corporate H&S, Environmental, and Loss Prevention Audits.

  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining all plant environmental and regulator records. Ensuring that reports are completed on time and ready for the Plant Manager’s review and signature.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Plant Manager is immediately informed of any regulatory compliance issues with the Plant.

  • Collaborates with Plant and Process Engineers to identify and track engineered safety solutions to eliminate unsafe conditions.

  • Provides hands-on guidance to Plant leadership & Supervisors regarding incident reporting/investigation program to ensure company Reviews incidents to ensure Root Cause Analysis is completed to prevent re-occurrences and drive corrective actions through health checks.

  • Evaluates, monitors, and approves the safe installation or modification of new or existing equipment including application of FLRA and JHA/JSA.

  • Applies and uses hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards and reduce risks in the facility or site.

  • Implements, administers and advises others on hazard control programs for their respective Plant(s).

  • Lead coordination of inspections by regulatory agencies, ensure deficiencies are minimized and corrected and present findings and corrections to Plant Manager.

  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with regulatory requirements.

  • Monitors legislative changes then assesses and makes recommendations based on their potential impact to the business.

  • Supports the development of SOPs, JHA/JSA, maintains Plant training calendar and ensures training records are maintained per regulatory requirements.

  • Conducts employee safety training for EHS as required using appropriate training materials (hands-on, PowerPoints, props, etc.) and performs safety evaluations, site level self-audits, run site safety committee and ergonomics programs.

  • Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies, to include participation in industry specified organization.

  • Administer the local hearing conservation program per regulatory requirements and adherence to HIPAA’s Privacy Rule.

  • Collaborates with peer group to ensure facility monthly safety inspections are being completed on time. Makes recommendations to remedy noted deficiencies.

  • In conjunction with Human Resources provides internal support for Workers’ Compensation cases and adherence to HIPAA’s Privacy Rule.

  • Conducts new hire safety on-boarding for new employees.

  • Maintain metrics in accordance with company requirements.

 

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of a BA/BS degree in occupational safety, science, engineering or related discipline

  • Three to five years prior experience in a manufacturing setting working in a Health, Safety & Environmental Role

  • Professional EHS certification desired

Reliability Engineer/Maximo Technology Specialist

  • Main Objective is to provide precise and prioritized reliability engineering services to work in a safe and productive manner, minimizing production losses and maintenance cost per unit, while supporting, promoting and demonstrating our clients core values and leadership behaviors.

Position Key Responsibility Overview:

Root Cause Analysis and FMECA/RCM Support:

  • Lead training to utilize the Maximo-integrated, 5-Why RCA’s and Troubleshooting as a part of keeping the Mechanical, Electrical and Process FMECA/RCM alive to drive down highest Pareto valued production losses.

  • Participate in the Corporate Weekly Reliability GoTo Meetings, training, webinars, SMRP, and Reliability Magazine subscriptions in order to keep up to date with reliability knowledge, techniques and mythologies.

  • Lead initiatives for corporate surveys, questionnaires and benchmarking as part of our clients Reliability Assessments and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Utilize Prodac/ Maximo interface production loss and Maint. cost data to drive to lowest child asset practical in order to target RCA / Troubleshooting, FMECA and RCM efforts prioritized to generate the greatest value return.

  • Maintain a strong work relationship with the Maintenance and Operations employees

  • Build the necessary disciplines for efficient and effective Running PdM and Shutdown PM plans that meets or exceeds critical leading indicators.

  • Prepare, organize and facilitate the Shingle line and axillary support systems utilizing FMECA/RCM, to identify failure codes as well as the PM’s and PdM’s required to have the earliest detection of those failure modes. 

  • Utilize detailed Pareto analysis of production losses from Downtime, Rate Reduction from Plan and Waste to identify the highest critical assets to target for RCA’s, FMECA’s, Troubleshooting, etc. while optimizing the Shutdown PM’s developed from the FMECA/RCM and corresponding Spare Parts strategies.

  • Champion and mature a self-sufficient Condition Monitoring program that starts with 1st with Ultrasonic Precision Lube as well as the remaining full gamut of earliest detection capabilities Ultrasonic and Vibration technology offers, to significantly reduce Production losses while also reducing the Top 12 Wear Parts Spend. 

  • Troubleshooting equipment, Design for Reliability, select and managing qualified contractors to precision-install and commission new equipment, monitor modifications, upgrades and critical parts required.

  • Act as back up for the Inventory Coordinator and Planner/Scheduler during emergencies and for vacation, staying updated with the standardized format and disciplines required.

  • Supporting, promoting and demonstrating our clients core values and leadership behaviors.

Maximo Support:

  • Follow Corporate Reliability Engineering Roles Responsibilities and Expectations (RR&E’s)

  • Provide necessary service support and training to Plant Maximo users, utilizing the Maximo Best Practices.

  • Update Plant’s Numerical Criticality Ranking in accordance with standardized IKO FMECA templates.  

  • Standardize the PM and PdM task format to align with failure modes of FMECA, transitioning to mostly condition-based inspections while aligning weekly Maximo resource requirements to plant resource availability.

  • Develop working relationship with other plants that have similar equipment in North America, UK & EU.

  • Develop and network PM’s and PdM’s from other plants to continuously improve safety, health, environment, quality, production efficiency, labor/material effectiveness, etc. to optimize critical asset Total Life Cycle Costs.

  •  “Pare down” on low critical ranked asset PM labor hours to build necessary and robust PM’s for “highly critical” assets, aligning PM’s and PdM inspections with asset Failure Modes developed from FMECA’s.

  • Lead Co-Op Engineering Students as required to update drawings with standardized asset names and numbers linked into Maximo as part of the Plant’s Document Navigation Accelerator (DNA).

  • Apply Best Practices and Lessons Learned from the Plant’s Maximo experiences to contribute to continuously improve the Maximo preparation.

  • Assist Planner and Condition Monitoring efforts to focus prioritization of work orders towards highest valued Production Loss Paretos rather than only the oldest backlogged WO.

 

Requirements:

  • Completion of University degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical Engineering) with P.E. or pending P.E.

  • 3 or more years of reliability experience in continuous process manufacturing environments.

  • Familiar with condition monitoring tools such as: vibration analysis, Ultrasonic, lubrication, thermography, etc..

  • Experience facilitating dozens of successful RCFA’s.

  • Experience with: FMECA’s, PM recommendations associated with preventing most probable Failure Modes, Production loss analysis, failure mitigation strategies, Spare Parts optimization supporting the PM tasks, etc.

  • Verbal and written fluency in English, effective presentation skills and ability to communicate well at all levels.

  • Proficiency with building standardized PM’s & PdM’s within Maximo or similar CMMS, MS Office, AutoCAD, etc.

  • Willing to travel on occasion to learn and share knowledge with other sites.

  • Analytical skills with high level of accuracy and strong work ethics.

  • Operational and supervisory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities: This position is 100% over all Manufacturing Maintenance Equipment and Team

  • Leads the Maintenance Department safety processes to achieve plant safety goals, including Zero Injuries.

  • Participates as a member of Plant Leadership Team.

  • Supervises plant maintenance organization including a reliability engineer, planner/scheduler, inventory coordinator and mechanics.

  • Manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the roofing industry, emphasizing effective planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.

  • Plan, coordinate and prioritize maintenance requirements in conjunction with operations departments to obtain minimum cost and high reliability.

  • Ensures maintenance mechanics are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that maintenance procedures are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

  • Communicates regularly with all maintenance mechanics, both individually and as a group, to ensure two-way information flow.

  • Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance mechanics.

  • Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department and supports mechanic skill development. Manages apprenticeship program.

  • Maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.

  • Implements preventative and predictive maintenance program.

  • Controls the repair and maintenance budgets, ensuring they are in line with the fiscal plan.

  • Implements cost reductions to offset negative or unplanned variances to budget.

  • Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (BSME is preferred).

  • 3+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience in a roofing or similar continuous manufacturing operation.

  • Financial acumen to optimize plant overall plant performance metrics at minimum cost.

  • Experience with repair and maintenance of process equipment.
